Little Courtesies

I was asked by one of my friends to get a room booked in one of the rest houses of our organisation.I got it done by taking time out of my working schedule, and informed him through SMS.He used the facility and forgot to even SMS me a small thanku.
What is wrong with us?We have become so selfish that we do not even bother to extend small little courtesies. We are afraid ??We are simply not bothered??We do not have time??We take it for granted??Now that the job is done,he will ask for a favour himself;so why bother. We do not get up from ladies seat in the metro or public bus.
Sorry and thank you are forgotten words.Only stewards and airhostesses speak those words.People mistake you for a person from the hospitality industry or the aviation. We do not say sorry to our wives and appreciate the help extended by them to us in our day to day living. The children too are also learning these. They hesitate saying sorry and thankyou. The marriages are breaking up because we have forgotten these two words.
It is an age of self-centeredness.We like to to get connected to each other in the family also through the net.The children talk to their parents through net, smses and other technological gadgets. So we come to the point straight away.We cut out the 'crap'-the so called formalities of thanku and sorry. In a way we have become more honest,so to say.But this does not seem to be the case. The feeling of gratefulness and empathetically feeling the hurt caused by word or action through the word-sorry- are dying in the process."Me and myself"culture is making man more isolated .
